Kick-Off Retreat

The GCW Kick-Off Retreat is a one-day curriculum based self-discovery and learning retreat that takes place prior to the beginning of our elective course and workshop series.

The goals of the Retreat are:

  1. Prepare the participants to take full advantage of the GCW program, which will commence in February;

  2. Stimulate girls to explore issues of gender, career, work & family balance, race, class and economics, and the impact these may have on access to the job market;

  3. Develop a strong bonds and a cohesive group identity among the girls, their instructors, and GCW Board members and staff;

  4. Learn skills necessary to work in teams, build their own group support system, and communicate effectively;

  5. Draft a preliminary action plan defining what they want to get out of the GCW program, as well as identifying the role they would like to play as participants in their communities at-large.

I enjoyed the way we all got to talk to all the women privately and ask questions. GCW Student Participant
